Anfahrt: Canico - Camacha - Caminho Municipal da Portela

Verlauf: Wir starteten dort, wo die Levada da Serra do Faial den Caminho Municipal da Portela kreuzt. Auf der schön ausgebauten Levada bis Rochao, diesmal war der Tuuneleingang des Rochao-Tunnel der Levada da Serra do Faial nicht zugemüllt, aber es ist doch eher unappetitlich, da runterzusteigen.
Aufstieg auf der Rua da Igreja zum Endtank der Levada do Pico do Arvoredo. Weiter auf der Strasse und dann zwischen den Häusern entlang der teilweise verrohrten Levada.Ich war 2017 schon mal hier (Auf den Spuren der Levada do Pico do Arvoredo) und hatte diese Levada als sehr authentisch in Erinnerung. Aber aus der urtümlichen speziellen Levada mit ihrem hohen Damm und der tief eingeschnittenen Levada ist eine Schotterpiste mit verrohrter Levada entstanden, allerdings ist der Ausblick auf Ribeiro Serrao mit seinen Terrassen immer noch sehr schön.
Weiter also auf der Piste zur Madre, die auch völlig anders aussieht, Betonverbauung und ein Tunnel, der 2017 nicht begehbar war, war jetzt kriechend passierbar. Immerhin.
Der Abstieg Richtung Ponte do Pau ist sogar ausgeschildert, dann hoch auf dem steilen Caminho Jose Arnaldo Vieira zur Brücke, die zur Fonte Perigosa führt. In einem kleinen bewaldeten, felsigen Gebiet werden hier mehrere Quellen gefasst und mit einem ausgeklügelten Levadinha-System, das in die Felsen gehauen ist, in mehreren Pocos gefasst werden. Das Wasser wird entweder direkt auf die darunter liegenden Felder oder in die Levada da Fonte Perigosa geleitet. Kurios die Uhr, die da völlig überraschend im Wald steht und vermutlich die Bewässerungszeiten geregelt hat.
Faszinierende Gegend, aber nicht ganz ungefährlich: Die Wege sind rutschig und abschüssig, und der Aufstieg zur obersten Fonte ist relativ gefährlich! Aufgepasst!
Weiter nach einem längeren Aufenthalt an diesem faszinierenden Ort auf der Levada da Fonte Perigosa mit schönen Ausblicken auf die andere Talseite, Abstieg zur Strasse, die eigentlich auf dem Bett der Levada da Serra do Faial gebaut wurde. Irgendwann führt die Levada dann wieder offen weg von der Strasse, breiter unproblematischer Weg mit einer schönen alten Levadabrücke. Wir blieben bis zur Kreuzung mit der Levada do Pico das Eiroses, wo das Wasser der Levada da Serra do Faial gefasst wird. Eigentlich hat diese alte schöne Levada gar keine Funktion mehr und eigentlich nur aus touristischen Gründen instand gehalten.
Abstieg auf der Levada do Pico das Eiroses bis Aguas Mansas und weiter rund um den Pico das Eiroses bis zum Wasserhaus mit einem gigantiscjhen leeren Poco und der Abzweigung über den Treppenweg. Sie ist dann nicht mehr weiter zu begehen, weil sie als Bach weiterführt, aber an der Steilstufe haben wir eine Art Mühlenturm entdeckt.
Nach kurzer Zeit standen wir an der Levada dos Tornos. Nach dem ersten Tunnel kreuzten wir die Levada do Pico do Gaula, die im Gegensatz zum letzten Mal (2019) schön herausgeputzt schien.
Weiter auf der Levada dos Tornos auf dem sehr spannenden Abschnitt durch 3 Tunnels und über die Brücke über die Ribeira do Poto Novo, nach der die charakteristischen Wasserrohre auftauchen.
Nach dem letzten Tunnel ging es sehr steil und sehr ermüdend wieder hoch über das Zentrum von Camacha und auf dem Caminho Municipal da Portela, vorbei am alten Wasserhaus der Levada do Pico do Arvoredo zurück zum Ausgangspunkt.

Zustand:

Die Levada da Serra do Faial ist absolut unproblematisch.
Die Levada do Pico do Arvoredo hat nach den Bauarbeiten viel von ihrem Charme verloren. Im Madrebereich muss man etwas vorsichtig sein.
Die Levada da Fonte Perigosa ist im Madrebereich nicht ganz ungefährlich, die Levada selbst ist unproblematisch
Die Levada do Pico das Eiroses ist im Abstieg nach Aguas Mansas etwas zugewachsen, wer will, kann ab der Hälfte die Piste nehmen. Sonst unproblematisch
Die Levada dos Tornos ist nicht zu unterschätzen, es geht schon recht steil runter neben der Levada und man muss aufpassen, wo man hintritt.


Bemerkungen: Allein die Fonte Perigosa macht diese Runde zum Erlebnis.
