14.05.2019 Wieder einmal in einem meiner Lieblingsgebiete unterwegs: Faja da Nogueira

Anfahrt: Canico - Poiso-Pass - Ribeiro Frio - Faja da Nogueira (Kraftwerk)

Verlauf: Ich liebe die Gegend oberhalb von Faja da Nogueira: Die Vegetation ist hier so speziell und die Levadas hier gehören zu den spektakulärsten auf Madeira. So haben wir zu viert (Issi, Regina, Piet und ich) einen wunderschönen Tag bei perfekten Witterungsbedingungen erleben dürfen.
Bis jetzt bin ich immer auf der staubigen Schotterpiste zur Levada da Serra do Faial hochgestiegen, heute haben wir den Einstieg zum Weg zum Levadahaus gesucht. Dort, wo er eigentlich sein sollte, ist der Hang ziemlich abgerutscht, etwas weiter oben sieht man aber einen deutlichen, aber schmalen Trampelpfad, der zum gut erhaltenen Weg hochführt. Möglicherweise ist der erste Teil abgerutscht und (noch) nicht in Ordnung gebracht worden.
Ist man einmal auf dem Weg, geht es absolut problemlos mit gleichbleibender Steigung zuerst auf die Höhe des Lombos und schliesslich auf dem breiten Grat hoch zum ersten Levadahaus. Auf dem Dach kann man übrigens eine durchgerostete, aber sonst noch gut erhaltene Lore aus der Zeit des Baus des Pico Ruivo-Tunnels sehen.
Wir sind zuerst gegen die Fliessrichtung der Levada gegangen, es hat aber kaum Wasser im Levadabett. Wir wollten eigentlich herausfinden, ob die Levada bis zur Ribeira Seca begehbar ist nach dem Erdrutsch des letzten Jahres. Es ist allerhand runtergekommen, aber bis zu ersten langen Tunnel ist sie gut begehbar. Danach noch etwa 200 Meter, dann kommt ein Schild und eine Absperrung.
Ich konnte es mir aber trotzdem nicht verkneifen, das Ganze aus der Nähe anzuschauen. Der Weg ist zwar schmal und rutschig, man sollte hier auch nicht stolpern, aber ich habe es auf die andere Seite geschafft. Aber es ist schon nicht ganz ungefährlich, auch weiss man nie, ob der Erdrutsch oben und die gelockerten Steine und Bäume stabil sind. Also keine Wanderempfehlung von mir.
Wir sind hier umgekehrt und zurück zum Levadahaus und weiter auf der Levada hoch über der Faja da Nogueira. Die Tunnels hier sind einfach wunderschön, die ausgesetzten Stellen in der senkrechten Felswand aufregend und die Ausblicke überwältigend. Wir haben bei der Brücke über die Ribeira da Faja da Nogueira beide zuführenden Levadas erkundet, vorher auch den steilen Zufluss aus einem Nebenbach.
Sobald man bei der Brücke auf die andere Talseite wechselt, ändert sich das Bild: Farne in den Felswänden, alles ist relativ feucht und die beiden Einschnitte zu den Caldeiraos mit ihren grünunterlegten Wasserfällen sehr imposant.
Schliesslich kamen wir zum Tunnel am Pico da Nogueira, durch diesen durch ins Tal der Ribeira das Lajes, weiter entlang der Levada Nova do Juncal durch den 20 Minutentunnel mit der entgegengesetzt laufenden Röhre zur Ribeira do Juncal, ab hier nochmals durch 2 kürzere Tunnels zur Madre mit dem Hinkelstein.
Auf dem Rückweg noch ein kurzer Abstecher zur Nebenmadre in der Ribeira do Juncal und natürlich, wie jedes Mal, die Leiter in der Ribeira das Lajes hoch, diesmal bis in den Caldeirao da Nogueira, weil sich da oben ein Geocache befindet....
Dann auf dem schmalen Weg zur Ladekammer und dem Beginn der Druckröhre, mit wunderschönem Miradouro.
Dann Abstieg zu den Häusern mit dem aggressiven Hund und den Höhlenhäusern, weiter auf dem Weg zurück zum Startpunkt
Auf dem Rückweg vom Kraftwerk habe ich die neu renovierte Madre der Levada das Cruzinhas genauer angeschaut. Da wurde viel gearbeitet, weiter unten geht jetzt eine Strasse von der Nogueira-Piste hoch bis zur Levada. Bin gespannt, wie das am Schluss aussieht!

Zustand: Anspruchvolle Wanderung, die man von A-Z konzentriert angehen muss. Die Levadas sind nicht wirklich gesichert, die Geländer eher psychologischer Natur!

Bemerkungen: Theoretisch ist es möglich, vom Levadahaus zur Ribeira Seca zu gehen, aber etwas alpine oder Madeira-Erfahrung ist sicher nötig.
